What’s important to you?

The Purpose of life is a life of Purpose

A good place to begin when coming to terms with your mission in life (a.k.a your contribution) is about getting clear on your values. How do you achieve this? Start with the big picture and create a ‘values hierarchy’ which is really nothing more than writing down your top 5 values in a list, starting from the most important to the least . What’s important to you? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Family and relationships
  • My self – mental, physical and spiritual health
  • Pleasure and lots of leisure time
  • Volunteering -helping others-community
  • Travel/discovery
  • Learning/study
  • Entrepreneurial adventures -building things
  • Money – earning/accumulating/investing/spending
  • Being known/fame and celebrity
  • Creativity and the arts – writing, painting, sculpting, theatre, film

So what is most important to you? What is the one value you are not willing to live without? What values can you base your ‘life of purpose’ on? This exercise may time take a little time…Don’t rush.
