Feeling out of sorts and deflated? Lacking motivation and energy?

Here are some easy-to-do actions that will quickly lift you out of the rut

  1. Breathe. Slow and deeply. Become aware of yourself breathing. Because it is the basis of everything, the awareness of your breathing will put you back in the driver’s seat.
  2. Gratitude. Think about what you have, not about what you don’t have. Focus your thoughts on all the good things you have in your relationships, your lifestyle, your work, and your friends. Turning your mind toward what you have and what is going right rather than what is going wrong will transform your attitude and you’ll begin to feel good. The secret to a happy life is to focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want. With a little practice, you’ll find this simple practice will make all the difference.
  3. Please yourself. Drop what you are doing and do something that is pure pleasure and satisfying in the present moment. Take some time to step back and identify what you want in the moment. Go for a massage, call a friend and go for a cappuccino, buy some new clothes, take a walk, listen to your favourite music. Just do whatever it is that will make you happiest now.
  4. Create some quiet time. Shut off all your electronic devices. Try it for 4 hours. You may want to try meditating, visualising, sitting quietly listening to nature, finding peace by spending some time alone outside.
  5. Let go of all negative ideas and feelings. It is as easy as letting a pen drop from your hand. First, welcome the ideas and feelings into your consciousness. Then just make the decision to let them go now. ‘How does this make you feel in this moment?’
